ケンさんは、沖縄の血を誇りに思うアメリカ人です。母親と祖父母は伊江島の出身で、幼い頃から何度も島を訪れ、そのルーツを大切にしてきました。子どもの頃は毎年夏に伊江島で過ごし、地元の人しか知らない神聖な洞窟や絶景の海岸を巡りながら、代々語り継がれてきた島の物語に耳を傾けてきました。
